Strivers Radio 2/23 + 3/2

March 5, 2010 · Leave a Comment

After taking a week off from the broadcast and podcast, Strivers Radio quietly returned February 23 to discuss Ras Kass’ attempt at generating revenue through direct fan contribution. We discussed the differences and similarities between Ras Kass’ and Public Enemy’s approaches, “the balls on Limewire” and more.

This past Tuesday (3/2) we extended our love and support for rapper Guru of Gang Starr, who is recovering from a heart attack suffered last weekend. This took precedence to kicking around the implications of Music Mastermind, which has raised a nearly $5 million production budget despite being relatively tight-lipped to the public.

Feel free to join live us next week and every Tuesday at 1PM EST. Call us on-air at (347) 857-2895 or visit the show page, which also apparently boasts a swanky live chat room we’ll utilize in coming episodes.

Strivers Radio 2/9/10 – The Sean Price Experiment

February 12, 2010 · Leave a Comment

We discussed the implications of Duck Down recording artist Sean Price’s novel fan outreach and request for support. The hip-hop veteran will host a New York City performance that doubles as a baby shower for his unborn daughter, Shaun Price.

Check out the podcast for our thoughts on Price’s strategy. Feel free to chime in right here on the blog. Oh, yeah. We also talk about Hootie and the Blowfish for a little while at the beginning. Consider yourself warned.

Strivers Radio – 2/2/10 – Grammys for the People?

February 2, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Today’s episode of Strivers Radio finds Heather and I discussing Sunday night’s Grammy broadcast.

We both watched most of the awards and assess the broadcast’s highs and lows. However, today’s podcast is not so much a recap as it is a discussion  about:

  • The Grammy nomination and voting process
  • How indie artists can affect the Grammy outlook
  • Taylor Swift, of course

Enjoy. Feel free to chime in here. Give us a shout LIVE next week if you are so inclined.
